Utah Real Estate License Costs

Utah Real Estate License CostsAs a Utah real estate licensing school, we are often asked how much it costs to get a Utah real estate license. We are going to break down all of the costs associated with getting your license here in this blog entry!

  • Once someone has decided to get a Utah real estate license they need to enroll in a real estate school, like Agent Professor. The cost to enroll at Agent Professor is $425, but we usually have some kind of promotion code available to reduce this tuition fee. Promotions are usually found on our Registration Page. This fee is due when a student enrolls and if a student needs special financing, a payment plan may be worked out. Students needing a payment plan should contact Agent Professor before enrolling.
  • Once a student completes real estate licensing school, they schedule to take the Utah state exam through Pearson Vue and pay a fee of $66. If a student fails the exam, they will need to study harder and retake the exam paying another $66. Pearson Vue has several locations in Utah and other states as well.
  • After the student passes the Utah state exam, they will need to apply for a license and pay to the Utah Division of Real Estate a $152 total non-refundable fee ($100 application fee, $12 recovery fund fee and $40 fingerprint processing fee).

Cost Breakdown:
Tuition at Agent Professor $425
Exam Fee $66
Utah Division of Real Estate Fees $152
Total cost to get a license: $643

Keep in mind that these are the costs associated with getting your license only. Agents should also plan on paying dues to local, state and national associations of Realtors® if they plan on joining these associations.

Benefits of joining a Realtor® Association

We often get asked by our real estate students about Realtor® associations, what they are and what the benefits are of becoming a member. Hopefully this post will give you a solid understanding of Realtor® associations.

What are Realtor® Associations?

  • Realtor® Associations are trade organizations made up of licensed real estate professionals.
  • The National Association of Realtors® -This is the largest trade organization in America. The core purpose of the National Association of REALTORS® is to help its members become more profitable and successful.
  • Local and State Organizations - Aside from the national level association, there are also state and local organizations. For example there is a Utah Association of Realtors®. There are also local associations such as the Salt Lake Board of Realtors® or the Utah County Association of Realtors. Members are usually members of local, state and the national level.

What are the benefits to these associations?

  • One of the greatest benefits that the associations of Realtors® bring to real estate markets is that the members adhere to a strict code of ethics and standards of practice. This promotes honesty and integrity in real estate markets, protecting the public and other licensees.
  • Another huge benefit to these associations is access to Multiple Listing Services. Usually, in order to become a member of an MLS, agents must be a Realtor® or a member of a Realtor® Association. Agents will be able to list properties on the MLS for sellers, and have access to information about current listings and past listings for buyers.

What is the difference between a real estate agent and a Realtor®?

The term REALTOR® is a registered collective membership mark that identifies a real estate professional who is a member of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION of REALTORS® and subscribes to its strict Code of Ethics.*

To put is simply, all Realtors® are real estate agents, but not all real estate agents are Realtors®. It is not a requirement to become a Realtor® if you are a real estate agent, but there are many benefits to becoming a Realtor®.

If you feel like you are ready to become a Utah real estate agent and perhaps a Realtor® feel free to enroll in our real estate school or contact us today with any questions! We are happy to help you get started in getting your real estate license!

Completing the 120 Hours

In order to complete the 120 hours, one must enroll in a Utah real estate school such as Agent Professor. Once enrolled students may begin working on the education. Some important things to keep in mind while completing your education are outlined here:

- Utah Real Estate Schools are only allowed to give credit to students for up to 8 hours per day. This means it will take at least 15 days to complete the required education to get your Utah real estate license.

- Utah Real Estate Schools track and record your time. The Agent Professor system is easy to use and students are able to see the progress they have made and how far they have left to go. Students have a lot of flexibility in the course and will not lose their progress if they have to pause their learning and come back later.

- Once you have completed the 120 hours, please keep in mind that in order to get your license you still need to take and pass the state exam through a Pearson Vue testing center and then complete the application process with the Utah Division of Real Estate. Students should apply for a license within one year of completing their education and within 90 days of passing the state exam.

Utah Real Estate School Online Benefits

We often get asked what the advantages are in completing real estate school online versus taking it in a classroom setting. This blog entry outlines a few basic advantages of completing real estate school online through an online Utah real estate school such as Agent Professor.

Test Practice

This item is at the top of our list for a reason; students that complete real estate school online will become familiar with how the state real estate exam is administered. Agent Professor has created a learning platform that features learning activities that simulate the Utah state exam. In fact, most of our quizzes, tests, and final exam closely simulate what a student will experience at the testing center.

Flexibility

Online real estate students will have flexibility in completing their training at their own pace. Agent Professor students can complete as much of the training as they would like in one sitting. (up to 8 hours per day) This flexibility gives students the ability to log on and complete a bit of training whenever they would like. Every second that the student spends in the training is automatically recorded and logged, so even if a student just spends a minute or two in the training they will get credit for it.

Comfort

One of the aspects of online real estate school that students seem to enjoy the most is the comfort to do the training in their own home. Agent Professor's learning platform is available 24 hours per day 7 days per week, so students can work on the course at anytime. So long as the student has a good connection to the internet, they can work on the course anywhere in the world! Plus, with advancing technology, students are now able to study real estate on the go through mobile and tablet devices that are connected to the web.

Variety

Instead of just listening to lectures in a classroom setting, Agent Professor students learn through a variety of proven learning activities including video clips, games, articles and court cases, and other interactive activities.

Support

Just because Agent Professor is an online school does not leave students without support! Students have access to tutoring and answers to their question from Agent Professor staff. In fact, Agent Professor has a goal of providing fantastic customer service and usually gets back to students in only a few minutes.

Save Money

By completing real estate school online students will not only save a bunch of time, but will also save a bunch of money by not having to travel to a physical location for classes. It is not cheap to get started in real estate, so we have really tried to keep our tuition fee low, providing a great value to our students. Plus we usually have some kind of special promotion going on to further help students get started in real estate!
